Opal Arlene Allen

Opal A. Allen, age 97, of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Meeker Manor in Litchfield. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Ripley cemetery. Opal Arlene Allen, the daughter of Roy and Minnie (Esplund) Anderson, was born on August 17, 1920 in Litchfield. She grew up and attended school in Litchfield. In July of 1940, she was united in marriage to Harold Allen in Litchfield. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary. Opal enjoyed cooking, dancing and riding her bike. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a good friend to many people. She is survived by her children, Joyce (and Paul) Swanson of Hopkins, Richard (and Betty) Allen of Litchfield; grandchildren, Anne (and Bill) LaTour, Christina Swanson, Dan (and Heather) Swanson, Marlena (and Beau) McGraw, Amy (and Jeremy) Decker; great grandchildren Samantha, Jack, Eric, Andrew, Carter, Bailey, Caitlynn, Madison, Rolland, Norah, Garet, Gavin; great-great grandson Elijah V. She is also survived by her sister Tootie Welsand of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, grandson Ryan Allen, sisters Lorraine Gehlen, Doris Richardson and brothers Wesley Anderson, Allen Anderson and Theodore Anderson in infancy.
