Pete LeRoy Kormanik

Peter LeRoy Kormanik, of Litchfield, Minnesota, age 76, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

 A visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM. All services will be held at St. Philip Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at Ripley Cemetery.

Peter "Pete" Kormanik was born on October 9, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Peter Jr and Joyce (Tabaka) Kormanik. He was the third oldest of nine children. The family later moved to Golden Valley, where Pete graduated from Benilde High School in 1967.

Pete's first jobs included delivering newspapers and working at McDonald's, where he began in 1964. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 and was stationed in Germany. After returning home, he went back to McDonald's, where he met the love of his life, Ros (Jorgensen). They were married on December 16, 1978, and were blessed with three children: Krissy, Becky, and Brian. In 1983, Pete and Ros moved to Litchfield and became owner/operators of the Litchfield McDonald's. They later expanded to Hutchinson and Annandale before retiring and selling the restaurants in 2019. Pete especially enjoyed working with his employees, customers, and the community.

Pete was dedicated to serving his community through the Litchfield City Council, Litchfield Lions, Chamber of Commerce (as president), LDC Hockey, Litchfield Industries, the Watercade Board, and the Litchfield Golf Board. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family lake home in Park Rapids. Above all, Pete's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and proud grandfather to Tyler, Brandon, Madison, Easton, Alyssa, Kasey, and Kaylee. He rarely missed their activities and treasured every opportunity to cheer them on, creating memories and stories that will be cherished for years to come. Pete will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, dedication to his community, and the love he had for his family.

Pete is survived by his beloved wife, Ros Kormanik of 48 years, of Litchfield, Mn; children Krissy (Ryan) Jansky of Kimball, Mn, Becky (Nick) Gehlen of Watertown, Mn and Brian Kormanik of Litchfield, Mn; siblings Linda (Ken) Mokry of Woodstock, Il, Jerry (Cathy) Kormanik of Minneapolis, Mn, David (Kathy) Kormanik of Apache Junction, AZ, Pam (Gary) Gustafson of Eagan, Mn, Patty (Bob) Laumann of New Hope, Mn, Paul Kormanik of Minneapolis, Mn; Brother In-Law Keith Williams of Kailua, HI; Mother In-Law Jan Jorgensen of Long Prairie, Mn; Brother In-Law Keith (Lori) Jorgensen of Long Prairie, Mn; Sister In-Laws Sandy Westerberg of Long Prairie, Mn, Sue Jorgensen of Champlin, Mn. Pete was proud grandfather to 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Peter Kormanik Jr., and Joyce Kormanik, Sister Janice Williams, Brother Tommy Kormanik, and Father In-Law Wayne Jorgensen.
