Robert “Bob” C. Peters, age 85, of Watkins, MN, died on Friday August 23, 2024 at the St. Cloud Veterans Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday September 30, 2024 at the Church of St. Anthony in Watkins, MN. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Sunday September 29, 2024 at the church. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at the St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery.
Robert Christ Peters, the son of William and Ludwina (Schneider) Peters was born on December 4, 1938 in Watkins, MN. He received his education at St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Watkins and was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Holmgren on June 12, 1971 at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Forest City, MN. Bob served in the US Army and also in the US Army Reserve. Bob worked at the Creamery in Watkins; was a carpenter at Kaufman Lumber; and a hired hand and a dairy farmer. He was a member of the Church of St. Anthony in Watkins where he was an usher for many years and was in the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was active in the Watkins American Legion and served as Commander for two terms. Bob was instrumental in obtaining the tank that now sits at the Watkins Memorial Park. He enjoyed farming, watching the Minnesota Twins, listening to KASM radio, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years Pat Peters of Watkins, MN; children Rodney (Chris) Peters of Watkins, MN, Jennifer (Brad) Johnson of Naples, FL, Rebecca (Scott) Thompson of Queen Creek, AZ, Daniel (Ashley) Peters of Plymouth, MN, Gary Peters of Kimball, MN and Keith (Steph) Peters of Watkins, MN; eight grandchildren Brady Johnson, Gracie Johnson, Ellie Peters, Kadence Peters, Lucy Peters, Hudson Peters, Logan Peters and Maisie Peters; brothers and sisters David (Pam) Peters of Ohio, Stella (Herb) Libbesmeier of Sartell, MN, half-sister Mary (Joe) Imholte of St. Cloud, MN, Esther Peters (and Denny Waldorf) of St. Cloud, MN, Alice (Randy) Hamann of Litchfield, MN, Eileen Dockendorf of Watkins, MN and Theresa (Tim) Quinn of Alexandria, MN; and half-brother Christ (Lois) Peters of Pearl Lake, MN step-sisters Donna Kleis of St. Cloud, MN; Katie (Ron) Jaeger of Clearwater, MN, step-brother Vernon (Pat) Kerst of TN, step-brother in-law Sylvester Holthaus and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father William and Ludwina; mother and father-in-law August and Susan Holmgren; step-sisters Rita Rothstein and Rose Holthaus; brothers-in-law Dan Dockendorf and Marcellus Rothstein.
