Roger E. Malmquist, age 83, of Grove City died on Friday, October 20, 2017, at the Meeker Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Grove City. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 25th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery in Grove City. Roger Edward Malmquist, the son of Edward and Anna (Minks) Malmquist, was born on April 19, 1934 in Litchfield, MN. He grew up near Grove City and attended District 57 country school. He graduated from Grove City High School in 1954. On March 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Janice Almand in Alhambra, CA. They moved back to Grove City and started farming. Roger was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Grove City serving as an usher, on the Audit Committee and Cemetery Board. He was also a member of the Atwater Threshers and the Forest City Stockade and Vice President of the Grove City Lions Club. Roger worked at Fingerhut, drove combines at Green Giant, and was a Moormans Feed salesman. He drove tractor at the Nelson Farm Pumpkin Patch for many years and also worked at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home. He enjoyed traveling, history museums and listening to music; especially Elvis and Pat Boone. He loved his family and spending time with them. He is survived by his wife Janice Malmquist of Grove City, children Julie Dittman-Hoyt (and Tim Hoyt) of Oro Valley, AZ and Kari (and Dennis) Fischer of Grove City; grandchildren Brandon Fischer of Grove City, MN, Jamie (and Bryant) Johnson of Hutchinson, Dustin (fiancee Maggie Moller) Fischer of Grove City, Haley (and Thomas) Magnusson of Champlin, Lindsay Dittman of San Tan Valley, AZ, Michael Letterman of Coon Rapids, and Malakhi Letterman of Coon Rapids; great granddaughter Blayre Kay Johnson; brother Wayne (and Linda) Malmquist of Grove City; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Anna Malmquist, daughters Lynn Malmquist, Jodi Malmquist and Monica Letterman, son-in-law Brent Letterman; parents-in-law Thomas and Elma Almand.
