Rosella "Rosie" J. Roeser

Rosella Janice Roeser, lovingly known as Rosie, was born on October 22, 1955, in St. Nicholas, Minnesota, to Frank and Mathilda (Niedzielski) Spiczka. She attended elementary school in St. Nick and Rocori High School in Cold Spring.

On December 1, 1973, Rosie married Peter Roeser. Together they made their home in Watkins, where they took over Peter’s family butcher shop. Rosie became well known for her hard work, especially making the shop’s popular country style sausage and wrapping meat for customers. Over the years, she also worked at Animal Fair, Green Giant, and Gold’n Plump, though the butcher shop made up the bulk of her working life. After retiring in 2016, Rosie and Pete moved to their cabin up north, where retirement hardly slowed her down. She continued working as a kitchen cook at the local gas station, always happiest when staying busy.

Rosie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved birdwatching—especially hummingbirds—and even bears and eagles from the cabin window. Though she preferred the comfort of home, she enjoyed a few adventures, including a road trip to Alaska, family vacations, and memorable travels with her sisters. Rosie had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready with a joke. She loved dancing polkas with her sisters at weddings, solving puzzles on Wheel of Fortune, and holding babies whenever she had the chance.

Rosie will be missed by her husband of 53 years, Pete; her children, Sherman (Jenny) Roeser of Watkins, Stacey (Craig) Brutger of Eden Valley, and Jessica (Adam) Teicher of Watkins; her cherished grandchildren, Devin (Madi) Brutger, Claire (Ben Schoen) and Seth Roeser, and Benjamin (Ayana) and Charles Teicher, and four loving great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Ann (Jim) Wegrzyn; Delores Shifflet; Katherine Stearns; and Celestine (Bob) Beckius, along with many relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Benedict, Frank, and Harry Spiczka; and her sister, Lorraine Shaffer.

Rosie will be remembered for her strong work ethic, warm heart, quick wit, and deep love for family.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 29 at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
