Ruth Myrtle Draxten

Ruth M. Draxten, age 95, of Litchfield died on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Meeker Manor Rehabilitation Center in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 6th at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery. Ruth Myrtle Draxten was born in Sibley County, Minnesota to Elmer and Blanche (Marquardt) Fluck on January 3, 1922. She grew up on a farm near Buffalo Lake and later lived in Hector graduating from Hector High School in 1939. She married Bennell A. Draxten of Cosmos on April 12, 1941. They moved to Litchfield in 1942. Ruth was a cook for the Litchfield High School for several years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary 2818. They moved to Oak Park Heights by Stillwater in 1963. Nine years later they moved to McGrath where she lived until 2009. She moved back to Litchfield and lived in Lincoln Apartments until moving in to Meeker Manor in 2010. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and knitting. She also enjoyed fishing, shooting her .22, playing cards and her Pollyanna game.
