Shirley Muriel Dollerschell

Shirley M. Dollerschell, age 99, of Litchfield, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Ecumen Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Litchfield Christian Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 14th at the Litchfield Christian Church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services on Friday. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery. Shirley Muriel Dollerschell was born on November 21, 1916 in Minneapolis, MN to Lars Peter (LP) and Clara (Hansen) Jeppesen. After the death of her mother in 1918, Shirley and her brother, Robert (Bob), were raised by their Danish grandparents in Minneapolis. She attended South High School in Minneapolis and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1934. In the same year, she graduated from the Minnesota School of Business. In 1937, she married Earl Wadman in Minneapolis and to this marriage were born three children, Wayne, David and Sheryl. They later moved to a hobby farm outside of South Haven, where she milked cows by hand and raised chickens. While living in South Haven she also worked at the post office and later worked for Traveler's Insurance in Minneapolis. She was later divorced. On October 26, 1958, Shirley married Orville Dollerschell of Forest City, MN and to this marriage were born two children, Miriam (Mimi) and Daniel. Over the years, she worked for several businesses in Litchfield, including Meeker Memorial Hospital, Christine's and Doffing's, Farmer's Daughter Supper Club, Library Square Restaurant, and Litchfield Community Education. Shirley was a passionate traveler visiting all 50 states and numerous countries within Europe, Asia, and Australia. She spent many of her traveling hours going on tours, being a tour guide, and transporting individuals; all the while carrying a book in her purse to read during a moment of downtime. She is survived by her children Wayne (Jan) Wadman, Ogden, UT, David (Bonnie) Wadman, Fort Atkinson, WI, Sheryl (John) Dahlberg, Cedar, MN, Mimi (Gary) Davis, Litchfield, Dan (Sara) Dollerschell, Forest City, and stepchildren Bonnie (Bob) Giese, Milaca, MN, John (Kathleen) Dollerschell, Eden Prairie, MN, Richard (Elaine) Dollerschell, Forest City, and Joe (Judy) Dollerschell, Olivia, MN, 13 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 20 step great grandchildren. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orville, her brother, Bob, and daughter-in-law, Betty Wadman.
