Shirley Ann Peterson

Shirley Ann Peterson passed away at the Galeon in Osakis, MN on September 23, 2026 at the age of 88.

She is survived by son, Jeff Peterson and wife Tamara of Alexandria, Minnesota, son Gene Michael (Mike) Peterson and wife Debbie of Georgetown, Texas and daughter Sharlene Lakanen and husband Curt of Champlin, Minnesota: 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Don (Margaret) Woods; sister Mary (Bill) Nappier.

Shirley grew up in Willmar, graduating high school Class of 1956. She met Eugene Peterson of Litchfield. They were married in Nashua, Iowa on July 14, 1956. After a short time living in Willmar and Lamberton, the family moved to Litchfield where they lived in the Crescent Park neighborhood. Shirley worked at Travelers Inn and Hutchinson 3M. In 1968, the family moved to Alexandria where she worked at Osterberg’s Cafe and 3M, retiring in April 1998.

Shirley liked watching the Vikings, Twins, bingo parties, flower gardening, Elvis Presley music and visiting Texas.

Preceded in death by husband Eugene; daughter Desiree Bleichner; parents Fred Earl and Mildred Annette (Arithson) Woods.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM at Johnson Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, Minnesota. Interment will be in Ripley Cemetery
