Thomas Lindsey

Thomas D. Lindsey, age 73 of Litchfield, MN passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026 at Meeker Manor Care Center in Litchfield. Johnson Hagglund Funeral and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.

A Celebration of Life is planned at the Litchfield Golf Club on Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 3:00 to 5:30 pm. Interment will be held at Ripley Cemetery Friday, August 28 at 10:00 am.

Thomas Duane "Bomber" Lindsey, the son of Duane and Marian (Birch) Lindsey was born February 18, 1953 in Minneapolis. He grew up in Hopkins and graduated from Hopkins Eisenhower High School where he stood out in hockey leading the Lake Conference in scoring his senior year. He went on to attend Notre Dame for one year before transferring to Gustavus Adolphus College where he continued his hockey career. Tom excelled in hockey and was also an accomplished skier. Upon graduating from college he moved to Aspen, CO where he lived for several years before returning to MN to reside with his father and began his occupation as painter and handyman. Over the years he spent much of his time in Litchfield at a family home inherited from a great aunt and eventually lived there permanently. Bomber's home was a gathering spot for friends and especially the Tanks, a group of lifelong college and local friends that continue to get together annually in Litchfield.

Throughout his life Bomber loved being outdoors tending to his garden, bird watching, hunting with friends and being surrounded by nature. ln Litchfield, as with everywhere he lived, people were attracted to his humble, good natured personality making him easy to be around and contributing to building many friendships. Tom was loyal to friends and family and, when his mother passed away in 1986, he provided companionship and care for his father until his passing in 2004.

ln 2013 Tom experienced kidney failure requiring dialysis three times a week. Soon after, he was also diagnosed with prostate cancer. All who knew him admired his perseverance, refusal to feel sorry for himself, and how courageously he fought his health battles. And while Bomber prided himself on being independent he appreciated those who were there to offer assistance when needed as his health declined.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jack; and sister-in-law Deb.

He is survived by extended family and many friends who became like family to him. Bomber leaves all of us with wonderful memories and an appreciation for his presence in our lives.
