Vivian Oliann Kyhn

November 30, 1942 — October 4, 2022

Litchfield

Vivian O. (Swanson) Kyhn, formerly of Apple Valley, MN went home to be with the Lord on October 4th, 2022 at the age of 79. She had moved to memory care in Litchfield in August of 2021. Vivian was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. She gave selflessly and made everyone feel like family. She was born in Hector, Minnesota on November 30th, 1942 in the farmhouse to Clarence Swanson and Gloria (Nelson) Swanson. She attended school in Hector graduating in 1960.

She married Robert Kyhn in 1963 in Hector, Minnesota and sadly found herself divorced in 2008. He was in the Air Force which led them to live in Texas and Florida. A move back to Minnesota eventually led them to build a home in Apple Valley, Minnesota where they resided for many years.

Vivian attended beauty school and learned enough to give many perms and hair cuts to her children and friends. She then worked at Kiddie Kollege before caring for many children in her home. You could always find her holding and caring for a baby. Vivian followed in her mother’s footsteps and was an excellent cake baker. She made many wedding, birthday and other cakes for friends and family. This love for cake baking/candy making led to her job working at Maid of Scandinavia where she was a store manager and taught many candy making classes. She then moved to their headquarters and worked as the receptionist. Her last position brought her to Apple Valley Villa where she worked as a receptionist and loved on all the residents before retiring in 2011. Vivian loved people well and had a knack for making friends everywhere she went. She was a much loved woman that made such a great impact on so many lives.

Vivian was a loving mother and was chosen as Outstanding Young Mother of the year of Minnesota in the late 1970’s. She attended and was a member of Mount Olivet Assemblies of God church in Apple Valley and then Christian Life Church of the Assemblies of God in Farmington. She was very involved in serving as a Missionette coordinator working with the program for girls learning about God. Many considered her as a second mother or grandmother.

Vivian leaves behind her children Jaylene (Mitch) Anderson, Kim Dezelske, Larissa Kaiser, Melinda Kyhn, and Brian Kyhn as well as grandchildren Nathan, Sabrina, Sophie, Jonathan, Kevin, Timothy, Candace, Kayla, Julius, Avani, Krista, Anika, Corina, Sam, Ayla, Eza, and April with 25 great grandchildren. Sister Terry Sutherland, Brother David Swanson, Half-sisters Brenda (Terry) DeSchepper and Annette (Steve) Wildenauer, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Vivian is preceded in death by her parents, former husband, two step fathers, one sister, two step-sisters, one step-brother, two brothers-in-law, two sons-in-law, one great grandson and one great granddaughter.

Vivian’s celebration of life will be on Saturday, October 29th 11:00 am at Bethel’s Rock, 6300 212th St W in Farmington, MN. Interment will be at Palmyra Covenant Church in Hector, MN on Sunday, October 30th with immediate family.
