William Walter Roers was born on December 11, 1958, to Ralph and Patricia (Hopfner) Roers in Alexandria, Minnesota. He graduated from High School in 1977, and went on to study banking and finances at the Alexandria Technical College, graduating in 1979. Immediately after school, Bill moved to Litchfield and began his career as a Consumer Banking Officer at Norwest/Wells Fargo. On June 17, 1989, he married Mary Beth Holmgren. They were happily married for the next 31 years. Bill worked for Norwest/Wells Fargo up until 2010 when he moved to Center National Bank. Throughout those years he became known for his bright personality and warm welcome to anyone who came into the bank.
As a dedicated father, Bill enjoyed his sons’ activities by coaching their sporting teams and participating in the DU Greenwings. While he enjoyed all things nature, including hunting, fishing, and golfing, what brought him the most joy was spending time with his sons, grandson, and family. He modeled great work-ethic for his sons, and was the first person to make his grandson laugh. He had a great memory that made many people feel appreciated and cared for. Bill was a member of the Church of St. Philip, Knights of Columbus, a former Watercade Board member, and Past President of Jaycees.
