Margaret M. Lien, age 91, died on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Meeker Manor in Litchfield. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. A Rosary will be held at 1:00 PM and visitation will follow prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held in Fort Snelling Cemetery.
Margaret Marie (Caron) Lien was born August 15, 1929, the first of 6 children born to Victor J. and Philomena “Minnie” (Wyffels) Caron on the farm North of Marshall, MN. She was baptized, confirmed, and later married to Claude Donald Lien on June 21, 1948 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall, MN. After their marriage, they resided in Minneapolis where she worked as an accountant for McNulty Construction, Inc. until retirement in 1986.
Margaret and Claude enjoyed 6 years of traveling around the United States and residing in Donna, Texas in the winter and their Lake Haven on the Snake River by Pine City, MN in the summer. After her husband Claude passed on May 11, 1992, she married Arthur White from New Hampshire in 1993 settling in Mission, Texas in the winters and New Hampshire in the summers, traveling around the states together. Arthur passed away in January 2001. She and a friend, John Burke spent their time between Mission, TX and Leavenworth, KS. In May of 2014 she moved to Gloria Dei Apartments in Litchfield, MN.
Margaret is survived by her brothers, Charles (Julie) Caron, Estilline, SD, James (Donna) Caron, Grove City, MN and Roger (Barbara) Caron, Litchfield, MN; sisters-in-law, Berniel Kiley and Yvonne Caron; 15 nieces and nephews and many great and great great niece’s and nephews, step daughters Paula (Dale) Mathews, Debra (Jim) Palmer, Randi (Dell) Crouse, Gale Thayer; step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; cousins, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Minnie Caron; husbands, Claude Lien and Arthur White; brothers George and Greg Caron; sister-in-law Lorraine Caron and nephew Kurt Caron.
In lieu of flowers and plants memorials are preferred to the Ecumen Hospice, the Shriner's Hospital and the MS Society.
