Richard Martin LaFond, the son of Stephen and Sylvia (Friedrich) LaFond, was born May 14, 1991, in St. Cloud. Richard grew up with his siblings in Clearwater, graduating from Tech High School in St. Cloud in 2009.
While in high school, Richard met his soulmate, Heather Carlson, and they were united in marriage on August 26, 2017, in St. Augusta. A year later, they were blessed with their daughter, Coraline. Several months ago, Richard and Heather were blessed with the great news of a son who will arrive in August. Richard was fortunate to stay home and care for Coraline, creating a daddy/daughter bond that was invincible and incredible. During this time, Richard attended Eastern Gateway Community College online and the day before his passing, he finalized his college requirements and was set to graduate with a degree in computer programming.
Richard loved all things music and of course, computers. He had outstanding culinary skills. He was a solid rock for others to lean on and provided unwavering support to his family. Richard was an amazing husband, dad, son, brother, and friend. There are no words to capture the magnitude of loss felt by all who knew and loved him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Heather LaFond and their precious daughter, Coraline and Baby Boy, of Watkins; parents, Stephen and Sylvia LaFond of Clearwater; siblings, Christine Lee (Rick) Murphy of White Bear Lake, Lydia (Arthur) D’Antonio of Las Vegas, NV, Madeleine LaFond (Sean Randolph) of Duluth, Jonathan LaFond of West St. Paul, Philip LaFond of Watford City, ND, Adam LaFond (Jessie Forsman) of Monticello, and Samuel LaFond (Krystal De Angel) of Clearwater; parents-in-law, Mitch and Becky Carlson of Annandale; brother-in-law, Bryce Carlson of Watkins; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
